Wisconsin Street Bridge Open to Traffic

Link to November 7 Oshkosh Daily Northwestern article.

The $23 million bridge, which features pedestrian and bicycle access, opened to traffic around 2 p.m. Thursday. The four-lane lift bridge replaces the old two-lane Wisconsin Street Bridge that carried a large number of vehicles across the Fox River daily.

Construction on the bridge started in September 2006 and the bridge was originally scheduled to open Oct. 31 but was delayed due to crews needing to finish up work on the pavement markings and signage. Weather also pushed the opening back, said Kim Rudat, Northeast region communications manager for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
